The Romantic Dance of Words
A love poem by Dave A. Gardener
The sonnets string together as pearls
The words create a melody
Each line a touch upon her lips
Each stanza a kiss
They sway in this slow dance, the poet and his muse
From the heart flows forth the words
Into her lungs, she inhales their sweetness
Slowly she lets it all go
All that was aching within, all that was unkind and cruel
But what is left is her heart, golden, renewed
Washed by his words
And into his eyes, she gazes
Panting for more

Poetry dedication
Traditionally a fiction writer, Dave’s life was forever changed after a friendship with a woman who adored his poetry and first recognized his gift. He called her his Robin, named after a poem that he wrote about their close friendship. After her untimely passing, he vowed to continue writing poetry to uplift and inspire others. His poems are expressions of his romantic heart and his faith in God. His Robin once likened them to “little prayers.”
“When God made us and made this planet, He gave abundantly – a billion or more tiny exquisite gifts, spices, flavours, fragrances to make our existence incredibly pleasant. Though we experience pain, there are so many little gifts around us.”
